

Selfoss Church Childrens Choir for which they are eligible for four years. During the last year the children get individual voice training and opportunities to sing solo in public. The Childrens Choir brings its youthful air to the service of the church. In the autumn, when the choir is going trough the renewing process, they enjoy important assistance from the youth choir.

At the Selfoss Church the first Childrens Church Choir was founded in 1988 by the organist, Mr. Glúmur Gylfason, followed by the foundation of the Youth Choir in 1993. Today the Choir has 28 members, all of them girls at the age of 13 - 18. Voice training and singing lessons are specially emphasized in the choir's work.
The choir participates in the church's liturgy and gives various concerts every year. Among the choir's bigger performances are A.Vivaldi: Gloria, J. Heydn: Kleine Orgelmesse and B.Britten: Ceremony of Carols. In December 1999 the choir participated in the Christmas concert of the Icelandic Symphonic Orchestra and sang at the annual Christmas service of the Bichop in Iceland, broadcasted on television.
The Selfoss Church Youth Choir has frequently toured Iceland and travelled abroad, giving concerts in Edinbourgh 1995, Denmark 1998 and last summer for the first time in America. In 1999 the choir recorded its first CD and a new one Desember 2002.
